From Intern to an Experienced Engineer to an Entrepreneur: Malik’s Journey with CareerDC

In 2019, Malik Khan embarked on a career-defining journey with CareerDC. As an ambitious graduate, Malik was eager to find practical work experience in the construction industry after completing his Master of Construction and Infrastructure Management from Swinburne
University. Like many international students, Malik faced the challenge of breaking into the competitive Australian job market. That’s when he turned to CareerDC, seeking an internship that would help him take the first step towards his career goals.

With CareerDC’s support, Malik secured an internship at a Construction company in Melbourne, where he gained invaluable experience in project management, contract administration, and construction operations. This internship not only equipped him with the skills needed to thrive in the construction industry, but it also opened the door to a full-time role as a Contract Administrator at the same company. Over time, Malik excelled in his roles, taking on greater responsibilities and becoming a leader within his teams.

Fast forward to 2023, and Malik has achieved something remarkable—he’s now the Managing Director of his own company, based in Melbourne. His entrepreneurial spirit, combined with his dedication to the construction industry, has led him to build a company focused on delivering high-quality projects while adhering to best practices in project management and safety.

In October 2024, Miqdad Hassan, CEO of CareerDC had the pleasure of catching up with Malik in Melbourne, and was truly inspired by his journey.
